Bloodstones are the only one of the three currencies that has an RNG element in its use. See the main section on Bloodstones for more details on their importance and their use. This page lists the probability tables for the Forging and the Unbinding processes.

Forging[ | ]

The base probabilities of a successful upgrade and the increase in failure chances differs depending on the item:

  • Handheld items, like Weapons and Shields, have lower probabilities - starting at 70%.
  • Worn items such as Armor and Accessories have higher probabilities that start at 75%.

Item quality (see Equipment Tiers) and gold value has no influence. However, the opposite is true : an upgraded weapon is worth more than its regular version.

Unbinding[ | ]

For 5 Shards an upgraded item can have its upgrades removed, in exchange for a fixed gain of Bloodstones. Again, the values differ depending on the item type:

  • Handheld items return more to compensate for their lower forging probabilities.
  • Worn items return less.

Augmenting an item[ | ]

If a player has reached the requirements, he can spend Bloodstones to improve an upgraded item to the upper rarity tier. This is called augmenting. The first requirement is based on what Rebirths is currently active (starting it is enough):

Augmenting options
Current Rebirth To Improved To Superior To Pristine
Normie NO NO NO
Painful YES NO NO
Horror YES NO NO
Nightmare YES YES NO
Hell YES YES NO
Infernum YES YES YES

The second requirement is item-specific: an item can only have its rarity upgraded if its upgrade is at least +3 for a normal to Improved augment, +5 for Superior and +7 for Pristine.

If both requirements are met, the item rarity can be improved for the following costs:

Rarity upgrade cost
Target Rarity Handheld Worn
Improved 12 8
Superior 18 12
Pristine 24 16
